Kayla Abel attended Traverse City Beauty College and became a licensed cosmetologist who was on the Honor Roll the entirety of her time there. Kayla then attended her local community college, Northwestern Michigan College in Traverse City, Michigan, and received her Associates degree in Early Childhood Education, but she did not stop there. Currently, Kayla is an undergraduate at Western Michigan University with a GPA of 3.72 and is working towards her Family Studies degree and was recently accepted into the Accelerated Graduate Degree Program that allows her to simultaneously work on her Master’s degree.
Kayla has volunteered with the Michigan Youth Opportunities Initiative (MYOI) after she aged-out of the program. This program is for youth between the ages of 14-21 who were in foster care for abuse and neglect cases. Kayla was on both the youth board and the executive youth boards and participated in many speaking engagements while in MYOI. Kayla has also recently become a mentor of a student with Kids Hope USA.
Kayla has a much better outlook in life now than she previously had, and she wishes to share her education and experiences with others who need it. She finds passion and an immense amount of ambition in this field of study. Kayla wants to change the lives of others in the same way her life has been changed.
